Organic Homeware

Why stop at food, go organic everywhere in your life, especially at home. These are our favourite organic homeware updates for a cosy autumn.

Organic farming and products are produced in a way thats better for us and better for the planet. Living organically doesn’t stop with buying organic food. Organic options can be found everywhere from organic clothing and underwear, to makeup and homeware. So if we’ve inspired you to switch to organic, it’s best to begin by replacing items once they have reached the end of their lifecycle, instead of chucking perfectly good things out to start again. It’s a less wasteful method that is as valid for the scented candle on your bedside table, the tray in your kitchen, right down to the towels in your bathroom. Do you fancy snuggling up in organic bed sheets at the end of a long day? Of course you do. Once you give it a try, you can start to gradually live your best organic life. Here our favourite brands for every room of your home. The choices are plentiful but buying less and levelling up the quality is a great way to take care of your environment, your wellbeing, and our future.

Sleep Organic Organic Homeware

The Vendeur Recommends: Bedroom

Sleep Organic is fully certified Organic and Fairtrade. They offer an impeccable range of ethically sourced and produced organic cotton bed linen. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification, issued by the Soil Association, is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria. Fairtrade certification ensures smallholder farmers in developing countries receive a fair price and decent working conditions, and can thus enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods. Our pick is their Piping Edged Duvet Sets, made with resistant white organic percale cotton. The design is classic and minimal, a versatile choice that immediately makes the room look more spacious and bright.

Lounge

Relaxing at the end of the day on a sofa covered in plush cushions is our idea of heaven. And what better way to do that than with Aiayu’s range of organic cotton cushions. Created responsibly in Bolivia, Aiayu believes in celebrating and supporting the indigenious craftsmanship of the country and so their products are made right there. Using only natural materials is important to the brand but they go one further by using on GOTS certified organic cotton, as well as earning SA8000 and WRAP certifications. The elegant range of clothing is complemented by organic homeware including bedding, cushions and throws. The only problem you’ll have is choosing just one!

Poppy + Sage Organic Homeware

Kitchen

POPPY + SAGE is a sustainable fashion brand with a focus on fair trade production and organic sourcing. The founders are a married couple both with a shared passion for travelling. They “sought to get away from their corporate marketing jobs by selling unique products found while on their travels.” The label also sells wonderful homeware and kitchenware to compliment the Poppy + Sage lifestyle. Some of our favourites include rattan boxes and trays, serving tongs and placemats. Each of which is handmade on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The female artisans who create these items can count on reliable jobs and income, but they’re also able to work in great conditions. Their organic standards make it a wonderful choice for the environment too, while the fair price points makes sustainability accessible.

Bathroom

The Organic Company is a Danish design company which creates interior textiles from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. They have developed a collection of organic textiles for the home, including a wide range for your bathroom, but also kitchen, for children, and meditation. Combining signature minimal Danish design with nude tones, they combine a delicate aesthetic with solid, resistant quality. As with a GOTS certificate, all fabrics are free from toxins and heavy metals, and international workers rights are respected. It’s our top choice for towels especially because they’re robust and soft. So perfect if you need to regularly wash them. Their ‘Bath towel to wrap around you’ looks too good to only wear after a shower.

Atmosphere

Is there anything that can make a room feel cosy more than a scented candle? The problem is, many are synthetic. Synthetic fragrances can be nausea-inducing, and can cause real health issues. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) even released a report stating scented candles made with paraffin, contaminated oils, synthetic fragrance, and lead wicks are big sources of indoor air pollution. NEOM alternatives are 100% natural, made with organic waxes (soy, rapeseed, and beeswax) and the best natural essential oils. They contain no synthetic fragrances or chemical binders, ensuring they burn completely cleanly and evenly with no black soot. They’re long-lasting and paired with wellbeing-boosting aromas, scents and fragrance. Good for the planet, your health and your mind too.
