This month we’re going vegan for Vegan Day, practising kindness and wearing a reusable face mask. Plus we’re loving everything in Zalando’s new sustainable capsule. This is the November Newsletter.
Just as we thought we were getting back to normal, new lockdown measures have popped up. However, here at The Vendeur we’re taking it all in our stride wearing an anti viral reusable face mask. We’re embracing Vegan Day with nourishing products for winter skin and cruelty free peace silk. On 13th you’ll see us taking part in #KindFest2020 to spread some much needed good vibes. Whatever you’re doing this month, whatever you’re wearing, be kind, wear a mask and support some great initiatives.
At The Vendeur we are big fans of reimagining how we wear clothes. So we were excited to discover Pantee earlier this year. Sisters Katie and Amanda McCourt have gone on to launch the worlds first underwear brand, made from upcycled t-shirts. “When we learnt about the number of garments going to waste each year, we just had to do something about it,” said co-founder, Amanda McCourt. The result is a small, but perfect collection of basic underwear, reminiscent of your favourite Calvin Kleins. But of course, more eco friendly. As a result the brand are saving water and bringing you comfy, classic undies that you will love. They are launching a Kickstarter this week so make sure to get on the list to be the first in line for a pair of Pantee’s.
It’s been a tough year for many of us. A global pandemic and subsequent lockdown plus a resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement have left many of us spinning. So we are totally down for #KindFest2020, an online not for profit festival that seeks to bring a little kindness into our lives. Taking place digitally, the festival brings together thinkers, advocates and activists to discuss how we can all be kinder to ourselves and each other. In a world where you can be anything, be kind. Amen!
Vegan Beauty Buys
Now that it’s getting colder and darker, it’s time to update your wellness routine. Why not change up your bedtime routine for Autumn by adding in some moisturising and calming treatments? To celebrate Vegan Day on 1st November, make the switch to some vegan products. Here our favourite new vegan picks for your Autumn wellbeing.
Zalando have released the latest capsule collection in their Small.Steps.Big.Impact collaborative range. Featuring Mother of Pearl, House of Dagmar, Designers Remix and more, transitional pieces are the main focus. Expect beautiful jumpers in organic wool, plus organic cotton denim. However we are especially coveting the uber cool Mother of Pearl oversize sweaters and Progetto Quid’s beautiful viscose LENZING blouses.
Our favourite sustainability advocate Arizona Muse has teamed up with the exquisite Olistic to bring you a capsule collection for life. The timeless and lets face it, totally divine pieces are all designed to work throughout the year. We particularly love the attention to detail when it comes to fabrication. GOTS certified peace silk, lyocell and artisanally spun wool all feature in a restricted palette of midnight blue, black and ivory. These pieces are a little bit of luxury to brighten a dreary autumnal day.
Earrings are an easy, inexpensive and less impactful way to change up your look for Autumn. We love this selection of warm gold toned earrings to add a little touch of class to any outfit. Elevate your favourite jumper by simply popping on any of these recycled metal pieces.
Luxury resale website Cudoni has teamed up with breast cancer charity Future Dreams to raise funds for the charities vital work. 50,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer every year and for some, the diagnosis can be devastating. Cudoni have collected donations from celebrities and media creatives from Janet Street-Porter to Candice Braithwaite, Cat Deeley and Melissa Hemsley. All of the pieces are available to buy now via Cudoni, with 100% of the proceeds going to Future Dreams. Shop the collection now
What a year it’s been! We launched our podcast, Style With Substance and the support has been overwhelming. Our host Lucy got a bit carried away this season and recorded a few more interviews than she intended. SWS is taking a short break but will be back with more episodes in November. We have some really exciting guests lined up so it will definitely be worth the wait. In the mean time you can catch up with episodes wherever you get your podcasts (Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, Google etc). Please subscribe and leave us a review to help other people find us.
Antiviral Face masks
Disposable face masks are becoming a big problem. 129 billion are used every month around the world, ending up in landfill (which takes 450 years to break down) or in our oceans. So it’s no surprise that we are big fans of reusable face masks. Now you can enjoy extra protection with these amazing antiviral masks. Playa’s invisible anti microbial layers have been independently tested and proven to kill COVID particles on impact.
