Biodegradable Glitter For Festivals

Festivals are an amazing place to really experiment and go crazy with your look. Covering yourself in glitter is a great way to do this, but make sure to use biodegradable glitter. These are our favourite biodegradable glitter brands for festivals.

Over 60 British Festivals have now banned plastic glitter in an effort to curb plastic waste. Traditional glitter used in the beauty industry is made of tiny particles of plastic. And given that when we remove it from our faces and bodies it either gets washed down the sink or put in the bin stuck to a wet wipe, it’s polluting our land as well as our waterways.

But there’s good news Sparkle fans! Biodegradable glitter is available and just as fabulous as it’s plastic predecessor. Plus, if being vegan and cruelty free is important to you, they tick those boxes too. Many are made from plant based cellulose, making bio glitters softer and kinder to your skin than those nasty flecks of plastic.

How To Apply Glitter to Your Face and Body

Mix it with a little organic aloe vera gel and paint on with a brush or your fingers. Try Eco Glitter Fun’s mini, recyclable pots of gel. You can also apply the gel to your skin first in your desired design, then pat the glitter on top.

How To Remove Glitter

Pop yourself in the shower and simply wash off with your usual shower gel or shower bar. If you don’t have access to a shower, apply a generous amount of coconut oil and remove with a damp cotton cloth.
