What We Love In June

Normal programming has resumed for June, but what is normal? Sometimes it feels like the world has been flipped on it’s head. However we are looking to the positives of all the good work that is being done to ensure our post lockdown life is a happier and safer one. Take advantage of some exciting virtual festivals. Nourish your body and skin, and don’t forget to dress happy! Here are all the things we love in June.
Last month we enjoyed the innovative alternative Virtual Car Boot sale hosted by Alex Eagle and Women For Women International. This month the organisation is hosting a Virtual Feminist Festival and the theme is ‘How can we make our post pandemic world a fairer, kinder and more resilient one?’ A series of interactive workshops, talks and panel discussions will be live streamed throughout the day. Tickets are already available with all proceeds going to the Women For Women International charity.
The Summer Solstice is traditionally an event that brings people together to celebrate the longest day of the year. While in lockdown, Bamford are bringing the celebration to you with their 2 day virtual retreat. Enjoy crystal meditations, yoga classes and alignment workshops and much more. The weekend is designed to heal, connect and uplift from the comfort of your own home.
We’re Glowing – Vitamin C Serums
Vitamin C is having a bit of a moment in the world of beauty. Having tried a few ourselves, we can see why. Applied as a serum, it helps to brighten and even out skin tone, hydrate and even protect it from pollution. However proceed with caution if your skin is irritable, using a potency of no more than 15% . We recommend starting with using it a few times a week and seeing how your skin reacts. Or use a booster serum and add it to your existing products to dilute it’s potency.
Scottish jewellery designer Ellis Mhairi Cameron was, like many of us, rocked by the recent events in the US. As a designer committed to ethical practises and looking for ways to be an active ally, Ellis has committed to donate 25% of sales made through her website in June to Black Lives Matter UK. ‘Regardless of whether you are a small company or a large conglomerate, we all need to take responsibility, and do what we can within our own business.’
We discovered A Complexion Company on Instagram and were quick to press the ‘follow’ button. Featuring plant based, high performance products, designed specifically for women with darker skin. Sustainable sourcing is key, and they use organic ingredients as much as possible. The first product is their Raw Moringa Oleifera powder and it has a myriad of applications externally as well as internally.
We’re Dressing Happy – Green Florals
Does anything make us happier than wearing florals? A beautiful print can brighten even the dullest day. This season we are wearing green a lot more. It’s such an uplifting but grounding colour. Here are our favourite floral dresses.
The world renowned Swiss pen maker Caran d’Ache have partnered with Nespresso for the third time to create a new edition of their 849 ballpoint pen. The limited edition Firenze Arpeggio style has been made from aluminum recycled from Nespresso coffee capsules. The refillable pen is made to an incredibly high standard and designed to last a lifetime. We can’t think of a better way to use old coffee capsules!
We’re Adapting – 3 Best Natural Adaptogens
Life is pretty hectic at the best of times, but throw in a pandemic and it gets a lot more stressful. So this month we are experimenting with adaptogens to help us feel more in sync. Here are some effective natural adaptogens we think you should try.
