Guide to Party Season Makeup

It’s party season and the perfect time to try a bold new make up look. Bold colours and sparkles are the order of the day. Just make sure they are eco friendly. This is our guide to party season makeup.

Are you having a party season make up dilemma? Are you used to having a natural look and you feel insecure about a bold cat eye? There are plenty of options you can consider, don’t be afraid to be daring at this time of year! One tip is to look at images of women with similar hair, skin and eye colours to yours to understand what can be the most flattering look for you. Christmas is also the occasion to gift yourself a little present of a new addition to your beauty case. A red lipstick, a creamy eyeshadow: colours you wouldn’t choose for an everyday look. Try something new. What looks like an occasional risky choice could become your future signature look!

Bold Lipstick

We can’t help but mention a holiday season timeless classic, perfect for any occasion. Red lipstick is an evergreen style that will always make you look elegant, whether it’s a Christmas dinner or partying all night long! After a very long season in which the matte look was a must, the glossy look is having a comeback. If you have been taught that you can either have strong lips OR strong eyes, a bold lip and a cat eye (with a sleek hairdo) are über chic together.

Shimmer Eyeshadow

Another comeback we didn’t see coming, but we’re happy to welcome back. Shimmer eyeshadows are not just for the catwalks. And when we say shimmer we don’t simply mean those nude palettes with golden or peachy undertones. We mean bold, colourful choices. Thankfully, you don’t need to be a pro to apply them. If you choose a creamy one or a loose mineral shadow, you can simply apply it with your fingers. Don’t get intimidated once you look at yourself in the mirror and add mascara: you will see the look coming together. You will realise it’s a super easy choice – and not as risky as you thought. Extra fixing powder under the eyes will prevent it from becoming smudged.

Cat Eye

You simply can’t go wrong with this classic look. Some people use scotch tape, others use stickers, some have mastered the technique so well they could do it with their eyes closed. Eyeliner is often our first make up crush, and it’s very likely you’ll have a love and hate relationship with it. Having extra patience and lower expectations definitely help: once you achieve the look, it will be surely satisfying. If you’re unsure, start with pencil then add  a waterproof eyeliner to help it last all night long. Neaten the edges using LastSwabs reusable beauty Q-tip dipped in make up remover.

Glitters

You can step up your natural make up look with a glittery detail. It won’t be too extra and if you feel like daring some sparkles that’s the right time of the year. You can apply glitter on your eyelid or a little touch on your cheekbones, where you would normally use a highlighter: you will turn heads, but will still have the comfort of your day-to-day natural look. Our choice is plant-based and biodegradable of course.
